This Thursday, the 26th, we begin our Countdown to Summer A-Z calendar. Can you believe the end of the year is approaching so quickly?!

Our chicks will  be hatching on Monday the 30th!!

CHICKS!!!!

Parents,

This Tuesday (April 10^th), first grade will be getting eggs so that the students can watch and learn about the chicks lifecycle. This is a very exciting unit that the students love. It takes 21 day for a chick to hatch so please talk with your child each night about the development of the chick.

In order for this process to be successful there are a few items that we need:

·         Newspaper

·         Sheets

·         50 gallon Rubbermaid storage tubs

·         Clip on heat lamps with light bulbs

All of these items can be purchased at Walmart. If you are able to donate an item or a Walmart gift card, please let us know. We appreciate your continued support!

Safety

Parents,
      Please have your child wear tennis shoes to school. We are outside for the majority of the time for P.E and recess now that the weather is nice. Flip flops are not allowed to be worn to school. Students who wear flip flops will not be allowed to play on the playground.
It is also a great idea to keep a backup change of clothes in your childs backpack in case of any type of accident.

SAFETY FIRST

Parents please be advised of recent added dismissal procedures:

1. A note or email MUST BE sent to your childs teacher by 2:00 with any dismissal transportation changes.
2. Mossman will not allow a change in transportation after 2:00p.m. We will also not allow children to be checked out after 2:30 p.m. This is intended to give the front office staff adequate time to notify appropriate personnel that your child will not be at their regular dismissal location and avoid any confusion that may occur. This will be strictly enforced.

Rounding Up for the Field Trip!

We love and appreciate our volunteers!  Please make sure you let your teacher know that you will be there to chaperone.  Also, there's one other very important step to take care of by Feb. 24th.  Please go to this link and fill out the information so that you are approved and ready to go!

Books, books, books!

One 4 Books

Students will bring in loose change or $1’s (or checks if you would like). All the money that we collect will go directly back to your teacher to purchase books in the book fair for the classroom.

The good thing about this program is that Scholastic will match each dollar…so if we raise $1000, Scholastic will match it with books for Toys for Tots, KIDS (Kids in Distressed Situations), and Kids in Need Foundation. Students will be participating in a great community service that will give directly back to kids!

We're back in full swing!  Continue your nightly reading and have your child retell the story to you as well.  It will also be helpful to work with your child on writing, recognizing, and counting objects to 75.
